As a tax professional, it would be difficult to connect pop culture to my career environment. However, as I have been watching the news reports lately, I think that all of the protests, complaints, and support surrounding healthcare, and whether or not it is now considered a tax, may one day be considered a part of our pop culture.
I chose Winnie-the-Pooh as my icon of pop culture. While Disneyland/Disneyworld is probably the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Pooh, he is present in many places and forms. From movies to books to music, from clothing to stuffed animals to children's bedding, from balloons and party supplies to home decor. Pooh even has two personalities - Classic Pooh and Disney Pooh. I have loved WTP since I was a little girl. When my children were born, I decorated their rooms with Winnie the Pooh in hopes that they would connect with Pooh at a very young age and continue to love him through their lives as I have.

I simply adore your blog. Your blog made me smile and realize the more simple things in life. Though I would never think of Winnie the Pooh as an icon for popular culture I guess he has shaped part of society. I love Disney it just makes one think of childhood and the memories.
ReplyDeleteAs for you being a tax professional you will always be surrounded by popular culture for you will be around money. The one thing that makes this world go around is money. If you look at the news, there is not a day goes by to hear how the economy is still suffering due to the overspending in America. We all like money, and does to seem to make everything function way it needs to. If I were to critque your blog, I would have to say it is very simple. I would also suggest that you add some icons of Pooh such as books or movies to show that it is part of a pop culture. I still think it is cute.
I too love your blog. Winnie the Pooh is one of the most innocent Pop Culture artifacts to chose. I would have never even thought about Winnie the Pooh with everything else that is going on around us everyday. That was a great choice!! I to this day love Winnie the Pooh. After having a child I realize that the cartoons for this generation of children are not the best. I mean come on look at Spongebob. He is rude and obnoxious. I do not think we want to raise a generation of children that way, do we?
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I love Winnie! Tigger was my favorite but you can't help but love the innocence of Winnie. I am doing my artifact about Disney World and when I was there the last time, I gave Pooh a big hug, just couldn't help but remember my childhood days and act like a child although I was in my 30's. Great choice!
